Construction case of a 17-km-long new railway line between Shatin and Central Li

The Sha Tin to Central Link is a 17-kilometre new railway line that runs through various districts in Hong Kong. After the completion of the Shatin-Central Link, the traffic time between East Kowloon, the east, west and north of the New Territories and the north of Hong Kong Island will be greatly shortened. The project consists of two parts: the east-west corridor and the north-south corridor.

As the SCL passes through existing areas along its entire planned route, a major portion of the line will be underground. Several tunnels have been built on the east-west corridor of this section to connect Hing Keng Station and Diamond Hill Station. Diamond Hill will become a major transportation hub in East Kowloon in the future. Section 1103 has a total length of 3,877 meters, and a 7.4-meter-diameter tunnel boring machine is used to advance two parallel tunnel tubes in this area along the 1,695-meter-long section. The second 2,182 meter long section of the section was constructed using the drill and blast method.
